Effective with the Week of Prayer (January 6-12), the 7:14 Prayer Movement will get underway in full force. In October 2012, the 7:14 initiative was introduced with a five-week Call to Prayer leading up to our national elections. Though the elections have transpired, many of the emphases in the Call to Prayer carry forward into the ongoing 7:14 Prayer Movement, based upon 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and will heal their land."
As General Secretary Jim Bradford states, "the urgency behind this initiative is born our of a prophetic sense that God is preparing our churches and our nation for renewal and spiritual awakening." Bradford notes further that God is calling Christ's living Church to humility, a hunger for God, and holiness. "This call to humility, hunger, and holiness has always been at the heart of God preparing to do a new work," Bradford adds.
To help you engage in the 7:14 prayer initiative, Dr. Bradford has recently authored a book titled, Second Chronicles Seven:fourteen: A 28-day Journey in Prayer. This powerful devotional guide provides a helpful pattern for prayer as well as a four-week, seven-day prayer journey that focuses on worshiping God, praying together in our relationships, praying for our communities of faith, and praying for our nation and world. You can order this book at MyHealthyChurch.com; it also will be available soon in e-book format.
A vital tool supporting the 7:14 Prayer Movement is the new 7:14 app for the iPhone and iPad. This can be downloaded free by going to the App Store and keying in 7:14 or 714 in the search box. Once downloaded, the 7:14 icon will display on your screen.
The app has a variety of features and functions including a daily devotional, syndicated prayer needs, a place to key in prayer needs you are praying about personally, access to resources, a settings function that allows you to set an alarm for 7:14 a.m. or p.m. as a reminder to pray, and much more.
A unique feature is a live prayer feed that allows you to see the city and state where someone has just prayed. This will give an encouraging sense of partnering with others in prayer across the nation.
If you do not own an iPhone, a website will be available shortly that will mirror the app. All of the same functions and features will be available. Also, the app will be available in the Android format soon.
